Since
1997, a big part of FDC Brands's
business has focused around the operation of A&W restaurants
throughout Western Canada. Our award winning restaurants
stretch from British Columbia to Fort McMurray,
Alberta.
A&W is Canada’s original hamburger restaurant chain and
today is one of the fastest growing. The first A&W drive-in
restaurant in Canada opened in Winnipeg in 1956. The combination
of great tasting burgers, handmade onion rings and frosted mugs
of A&W Root Beer was an instant hit! A&W quickly flourished
across the nation through the late 50’s and 60’s. A&W
Drive-ins became the gathering place for the community.
Millions of Canadians have special
memories that were played out at the local A&W.
Whether they were in the back seat of their parents'
car or hanging around with friends at the Dub, Canadians
grew up with A&W. This lasting friendship is the
source of A&W’s continued success today!
A&W now stretches from coast to coast with well over 600 locations
and continues to expand. However, with this expansion A&W
has still stayed true to what made it famous in the early days.
Yes the Drive-ins and car hops are gone but the A&W in frosted
mugs, the handmade onion rings and the high quality Burger Family
Burgers served in foil bags are still the main line up on the A&W
menu.
